What IT Outsourcing Services Actually Cover (and What This Page Is Not)

Whether you have a 40-person engineering org that needs relief, or no technical staff at all, this page shows you exactly which outsourcing model fits, and where to go next.

"IT outsourcing" is an umbrella, and it's worth opening it properly before you compare vendors. Under it sit several very different engagements:

  • Software development outsourcing: a vendor builds your application, platform, or product.
  • QA and testing outsourcing: an external team owns quality so releases stop being a gamble.
  • Maintenance and support outsourcing: someone else keeps existing systems patched, monitored, and alive.
  • DevOps and infrastructure outsourcing: pipelines, cloud, hosting, and uptime handled for you.
  • Staff augmentation: outside engineers slot into your team, under your management.

Most IT outsourcing companies sell one or two of these. MONA delivers all of them, which matters for a simple reason: real technology problems don't respect category boundaries. The company that outsources a build soon needs maintenance; the team that outsources QA eventually wants DevOps; the startup that hired two augmented developers grows into a full delivery team.

Two scenarios are specific enough that we built dedicated pages for them. If you want a software product built end to end as a project, go straight to offshore software development. If you want to establish your own long-term engineering center in Vietnam, read our offshore development center guide. This page covers the broader question: what can you hand off, to whom, and how.

IT Outsourcing Services We Deliver

Every service below is delivered by MONA's own employed engineers, not subcontractors, not a freelancer marketplace. One contract, one point of accountability.

Software Development Outsourcing

The core of most engagements. Our software outsourcing teams design, build, and ship web platforms, custom business systems (CRM, ERP, sales and HR tools), e-commerce, mobile apps, and SaaS products. We've done this for over a decade across 14,000+ projects delivered, so there is very little we haven't already built a version of. Project-based delivery is covered in depth on our offshore software development page.

QA & Software Testing

Outsourced QA is often the fastest win in all of IT outsourcing: it requires no architectural handover, and it immediately frees your developers from testing their own work. We provide manual and automated testing, regression suites, performance and load testing, and release sign-off, as a standalone service or embedded in a development engagement.

Application Maintenance & Support

Legacy systems, inherited codebases, and "the site the old vendor abandoned": we take them over, stabilize them, and keep them running. Bug fixes, security patching, dependency upgrades, uptime monitoring, and small enhancements under an SLA, so your internal people can work on what's next instead of what's broken.

DevOps, Cloud & Infrastructure

CI/CD pipelines, containerization, cloud migration, environment management, and monitoring. MONA also operates its own cloud hosting and VPS infrastructure, which means we can run your stack on infrastructure we control end to end, or manage it inside your AWS, GCP, or Azure environment.

IT Staff Augmentation

When you have management capacity but not enough hands, we place vetted MONA engineers directly into your team: your standups, your backlog, your tools. It's the lightest-weight outsourcing model and the easiest to scale up or unwind. See our dedicated IT staff augmentation page for the full model.

Web, E-commerce & Digital

Because MONA grew up as a web and digital company, our outsourcing services extend to territory pure software shops don't cover: high-conversion websites, WordPress and e-commerce builds, SEO-ready architecture, and ongoing digital operations. One vendor for the product and the storefront.

How to Choose Between IT Outsourcing Companies

Comparing IT outsourcing companies on rate cards is how bad decisions get made: the cheapest hourly rate routinely produces the most expensive project. Compare on these five questions instead:

  1. Who actually does the work? Many "companies" are brokers who resell freelancers. Ask whether engineers are salaried employees. (MONA's 200+ staff are in-house, in our own offices in Vietnam.)
  2. Can they cover the whole lifecycle? A vendor that only codes will leave you shopping again for QA, DevOps, and support within a year. Breadth isn't a luxury; it's how you avoid vendor sprawl.
  3. Have they survived long enough to trust? Outsourcing partners hold your source code and your roadmap. A company with 10+ years of operating history and thousands of retained clients behaves differently from a two-year-old shop chasing its next invoice.
  4. How do they communicate? Demand a named project manager, a weekly written status you can forward to your board, and working-hours overlap with your time zone, before contract, not after.
  5. Who owns the output? Code, documentation, credentials, and infrastructure access should transfer to you unconditionally. If the contract is vague here, walk away.

Any serious vendor should answer all five in writing. We do; it's the first page of our proposal template.

IT Outsourcing to Vietnam: Why the Smart Money Moved Here

For two decades, "outsourcing" defaulted to India; the last several years rewrote that default. Vietnam has become one of the world's most attractive IT outsourcing destinations, and the reasons hold up under scrutiny:

  • Engineering depth. Vietnam produces tens of thousands of STEM graduates a year, and its developer population skews young, mathematically strong, and hungry, and the country consistently places near the top of international programming rankings.
  • Cost with quality. Vietnamese engineering rates sit well below US and Western European levels, and below much of Eastern Europe, without the quality collapse that ultra-cheap destinations are known for. You're not arbitraging desperation; you're accessing a genuinely deep talent market at its fair local price.
  • Stability and loyalty. Vietnam offers political stability, a government actively investing in its digital economy, and, critically for outsourcing, attrition rates far lower than the churn that plagues larger outsourcing markets. The team you start with is largely the team you'll have in year three.
  • Workable time zones. GMT+7 overlaps Australian business hours almost entirely, catches European mornings, and pairs with US evenings, with async discipline covering the rest.

Software outsourcing to Vietnam isn't a frontier bet anymore. It's what experienced buyers do after they've been burned somewhere cheaper.

How MONA Compares to Other Software Outsourcing Companies in Vietnam

Vietnam's outsourcing scene has real players, and we'd rather you compare than take our word. Most software outsourcing companies in Vietnam fall into two groups: large body-shops optimized for enterprise seat-count, and small studios of 10-30 developers with narrow stacks. MONA occupies the useful middle:

  • Scale without the bureaucracy: 200+ in-house staff, big enough for multi-team programs, small enough that your project isn't row 400 in a resourcing spreadsheet.
  • Breadth few local rivals match: as a full-cycle software development company, we cover software, web, e-commerce, AI and automation, plus our own hosting infrastructure, under one roof. Most Vietnamese vendors outsource their own hosting; we run ours.
  • A domestic track record you can inspect: 14,000+ projects delivered, including demanding international clients such as Japanese companies, where documentation and precision are non-negotiable.
  • Digital DNA: we're the rare Vietnamese engineering company that also understands marketing, conversion, and SEO, because we've delivered those services for a decade. Your product ships with its go-to-market surface ready. See our full profile as a software development company in Vietnam.

Pick the Right Outsourcing Model (60-Second Guide)

  • You need a system built, with a defined scope and end date: project-based outsourcing. Start at offshore software development.
  • You need ongoing capacity that behaves like your own product team: a dedicated development team with a fixed monthly cost, stable roster, your roadmap.
  • You need people inside your existing team, under your management: IT staff augmentation.
  • You're planning a permanent engineering presence in Vietnam: an offshore development center, self-built or through a managed partner.
  • You need a function taken off your plate entirely (QA, support, DevOps): a managed service under SLA, scoped in your assessment call.

Not sure? That's normal: most engagements blend two models. The assessment call exists precisely to sort this out before anyone signs anything.

How an Engagement Starts

  1. Free assessment (week 0). A structured call: what you run today, what hurts, what you've tried. You leave with a recommended model and a straight answer on whether we're the right fit, including "no" when we're not.
  2. Proposal & pilot scope (week 1). Written scope, team composition, communication plan, SLA, and pricing. We favor a small pilot (one module, one test suite, one system takeover) over a big-bang contract.
  3. Team onboarding (weeks 1-2). Named PM, access setup, documentation review, first sprint planned. For takeovers, we audit the codebase before touching it.
  4. Delivery cadence. Weekly written reports, demo checkpoints, and a monthly review of the metric the engagement was scoped around: velocity, defect rate, uptime, or turnaround time.
  5. Scale or hand back. Expand the team, add functions, convert to a dedicated team, or, if we've automated ourselves out of a job, hand everything back documented. You own all code, credentials, and docs at every stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

IT outsourcing services are the delegation of technology functions (software development, QA and testing, application maintenance, DevOps and infrastructure, or entire IT operations) to an external provider. Companies outsource to access skills they don't have in-house, scale faster than hiring allows, and reduce cost, typically under a project, dedicated-team, or managed-service contract.
