5. What does their process look like when things go wrong? Ask how they handle a missed sprint, a defect found after release, or a change in scope. Mature companies answer with a process; immature ones answer with reassurance.
6. Do they build things like yours? A company that lives in ecommerce, CRM/ERP, and web platforms is a different animal from one that does embedded firmware. Ask for work in your domain and for a reference client you can speak to.
7. What happens after launch? Software isn't done at handover. Confirm warranty terms, maintenance options, and whether the team that built your product is the team that supports it.
